Argument first
If we can't summarize the argument of the piece in a single sentence, we won't proceed with writing it. If we cannot say what the piece is arguing in one sentence, it does not get written.

One voice
From beginning to end, the work is held to one standard, so nothing is watered down along the way. One standard, start to finish. Work that gets watered down gets forgotten.

Say the hard thing
If your positioning lacks strength, we'll let you know before we start crafting the surrounding content. If your positioning is weak, we will tell you before we write around it.
Why we exist
Content became a volume business. More posts, more words, more noise, and less and less of it worth reading. We started Blackstone because the opposite bet looked better: fewer pieces, written properly, that people actually cite.
